Acolytes Children ages 3rd grade and up have the opportunity to serve as acolytes. Children are trained to assist in worship by lighting the Altar candles each Sunday during worship services. Contact the church office to arrange for your child to attend the next acolyte training session. Children’s Choir Our children’s choir (Ringers and Singers) provide special music monthly, and for special events throughout the year. The choir alternates between singing, and ringing hand bells which are color coded, as they praise God through music. All children ages five and up are invited to attend practices held on Sunday mornings at 9:30am in the choir room in the education building. Children’s Church Our children’s church takes place each Sunday for all children ages four years through 3rd grade. It is designed to provide an age appropriate worship experience for children that are too young for regular worship. (children begin in worship with their parents, and exit the sanctuary after children’s moments with the pastor.) In children’s church, children experience music, prayer, lesson and activities. Worship activity bulletins are available in narthex for older children to use as they experience worship with their families. Children’s Drama Program Our children ages pre-school and up participate in special programs for Christmas and/or Easter each year. Practices take place on Sunday afternoons for several weeks leading up the program. Parent volunteers are needed to help with practices, music, and costumes. M&M's (Mini Methodists) This program is held monthly for our children ages K-2nd grade. M & M’s offers a more interactive program than traditional Sunday School classes, with biblical lessons and hands on activities. The program is from 4:00 to 5:00. Dinner is served ($3.00 fee) from 5:00 to 5:30. (see newsletter each month for exact dates) Mom’s Morning Out This program is designed to accommodate moms with young children. It is a babysitting co-op, where babysitting is exchanged amongst friends. The program is offered at no cost and is for toddlers up to age four. There are currently two programs available, Monday and Fridays from 9am to 12noon. Please contact Jen Clapper at 252-489-8672 for more info. Nursery Nursery Care is provided on Sunday mornings from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 for infants through age four. Our nursery is staffed by professional and qualified care givers and is equipped with a monitor paging system for parent’s “peace of mind.” Our nursery is also available for special services throughout the year and is located in the Education Building. Sunday School Sunday School Classes are in place for all children ages 3 years through high school. This is a wonderful opportunity for the basics of Christian faith to be taught to our children. Our teachers place strong emphasis on having a Sunday School program that will help children make new friends within their church family and to grow in their knowledge of the Bible and Christian beliefs. Classes take place each Sunday between worship services at 9:45 a.m. in our Education Building. Tweens Our Tween program is designed for older children, from 3rd to 5th Grade. Tweens is a monthly program that includes lessons, activities, and service projects. The program is from 4:00 to 5:00, with dinner following, from 5:00 to 5:30. ($3.00 fee) (see newsletter for exact dates) Vacation Bible School Vacation Bible School is designed to acquaint children with wonderful Bible Stories that underscore the Christian faith. Children learn through music, arts and crafts, stories, games and special snacks. Children experience fun and meaningful ways to praise and worship God. VBS meets daily from 9:30 to 12:00 for a designated week in July. |
